      <image:caption>Katie Lawless has been a part of the dance community from an early age. She trained and competed as a well-rounded dancer in Acro, Jazz, Lyrical/Contemporary, Tap, Ballet and Hip Hop. Katie is a proud teacher and choreographer at IN.MOTION in numerous styles of dance &amp; acrobatics. Katie is a certified module 1 Acrobatic Arts instructor. Katie is an award winning choreographer, has performed, successfully competed across North America winning numerous overall awards, and has taught all forms of dance and acro for the past 10 years. Her choreography has won several awards including highest mark of the competition, choreography awards and numerous overalls and special awards.  Teaching young and emerging artists and athletes is Katie’s passion and one she continues to broaden her knowledge in. Dance continues to be, and always has been, what drives her forward.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Lisa Collins is the proud Director of IN.MOTION Dance School. Lisa loves sharing her passion for dance with all her students and staff. She is incredibly proud of what IN.MOTION offers to our KW Community. IN.MOTION is a place where dancers and their families feel welcome and supported. Our studio is a space where dancers of all ages and abilities can come together, make new friends, and explore their love for dance while receiving high quality dance training. A dream come true! Most recently, Lisa joined forces with 9 other studio Directors in Ontario to help write the “Ontario Dance &amp; Performing Arts Studios Workplace Guidelines for COVID-19” and was featured on CTV News for her efforts. Lisa is an advocate for dance in Ontario. PRIOR TO BECOMING THE DIRECTOR OF IN.MOTION IN 2008… Lisa enjoyed a successful professional career as a dancer that taught her so much and made her childhood dreams come true. Lisa trained daily growing up with the intent to someday hit the stage as a professional dancer. Lisa has been trained in all dance forms in Kitchener-Waterloo, Toronto, Miami, New York and Los Angeles. Lisa had a successful performance career of her own as dancer for over a decade. Her credits include many cruise ship contracts as a Dance Captain/Dancer/Flyer, company work (Jazz &amp; Modern), theatre, the NBA &amp; CFL, various TV and film credits and Industrial/Corporate jobs across North America. Lisa is a well known and accomplished teacher and choreographer in Canada. She has taught professional level dance classes across Southwestern Ontario at workshops, Universities and various studios. Lisa was a proud faculty member at Metro Movement Dance Studio in Toronto for many years. Lisa has adjudicated dance competitions across Canada. Lisa directed LMC Productions, a company housing many different aspects of the entertainment industry including casting, production and talent development. LMC Productions expanded internationally by installing Production Shows for Celebrity Cruise Lines Inc. and cast and aided in the rehearsal process for Japan Cruise Lines. Lisa is a performer, choreographer, teacher, adjudicator and internationally recognized casting agent. Many graduates have moved on to successful careers in dance as Studio Directors, You Tube Stars, performers, adjudicators, teachers &amp; choreographers. Lisa is equally proud of her dancers who did not pursue dance as their career path. Lisa is proud to develop well-rounded, self confident young adults who have become an integral part of their greater communities. Graduates have pursued careers in education, financing, medicine, marketing &amp; engineering. Lisa is so proud of ALL her Graduate Dancers. Many of Lisa’s students have continued their love for dance with their University Dance Teams, where they compete at dance competitions and have grown into beautiful leaders and choreographers. Lisa’s current students continue to win multiple awards &amp; scholarships at dance competitions and workshops. Although, training top notch dancers who graduate as beautiful dancers is Lisa’s main focus, she does enjoy dance competitions and is very proud of her successful team. Lisa always strives to do her best for her team. Her teacher assistant training program, where teen dancers shadow and learn to teach dance has developed top notch dance teachers who now teach all over the KW/Cambridge area. Lisa’s passion while teaching is to help young dancers achieve their ultimate best and her “signature” in the industry is her ability to provide high quality technical training while running a successful, professional business. After placing in the final four contestants for SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA (Season Two), Everett continued his passion for performing on stage alongside recording artists: Katy Perry, Tom Cochrane, and Keshia Chante. Everett’s work expands into acting for such television shows as: STAR TREK DISCOVERY, THE STRAIN, WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS, and MURDOCH MYSTERIES. His passion to perform, to inspire, and to entertain, has always been the driving force behind every step he takes. Everett’s most memorable productions include performing in the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Opening Ceremonies, starring in the North American National Tour of TAP DOGS: REBOOTED, dancing and performing the role of Paulie with James Marsden and Zac Efron in HAIRSPRAY: THE MOVIE. Everett has also been part of many award-winning productions, most notably playing the role of Tip in the Dora Award winning production “I THINK I CAN” at Lorraine Kimsa Theatre for Young People in Toronto. Other credits include stage performances of GREASE and FOOTLOOSE, as well as, film work on Disney’s ICE PRINCESS, FROM TIME TO TIME, LIFE WITH DEREK, SLINGS &amp; ARROWS, FELICITY: AN AMERICAN GIRL ADVENTURE, and PRIVATE EYES.       <image:caption>Tara began her formal training at the National Ballet School in Toronto. Upon graduation she then danced for the National Ballet of Canada for their 1992/93 season. Tara then moved to Calgary to dance with The Alberta Ballet for 2 seasons. She danced with the Banff Festival ballet for 3 consecutive summers. In 1995 Tara joined Ballet Jorgen Canada as a principal dancer. Dancing many lead roles created for her by artistic director Bengt Jorgen. Favorite roles include Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, the title role in Cinderella and Anastasia, Clara in Coppelia, and The Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker. While still dancing Tara began guest teaching across the country and into the United States as well as Hong Kong. She taught for 3 years at Sean Boutilier Academy of dance and teaches for Ballet Jorgen Canada. Tara is very happy to be joining the staff at IN.MOTION School of the Performing Arts and is looking forward to the dance season ahead!</image:caption>

She discovered her love of dance at an early age and grew up as a competitive dancer in various dance forms. She is a graduate of Ryerson University’s Dance Program where she studied under Nadia Potts, Karen Duplisea and Vicki St. Denys. She is a registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance, and a member of the Professional Adjudicator’s Alliance. She has enjoyed teaching, choreographing and sharing her passion for dance as a ballet director, guest teacher, and children’s program coordinator for the past 15 years. She has won several awards including highest ballet marks, choreography awards, special awards and overalls for her work. Many of her students have gone on to become performers, teachers and choreographers. Others have been accepted to Quinte Ballet School, National Ballet School of Canada, Miami City Ballet, Joffrey Ballet School, Cirque du Soleil. She is very proud of her students and their many accomplishments. Caralee continues to enhance her professional development by attending courses, seminars and classes.</image:caption>

Katie has performed for several artists including Kettle's On, Spirit of the West and the Irish Descendents.  Other credits include performances at the Brantford International Villages, the Fergus Highland Games, CKCO News, and Kidspark.       <image:caption>Karina Grzella currently resides in Kitchener, ON. Karina has been dancing for 17 years. Karina has extensive training in ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary and hip hop and has been fortunate to train with noted choreographers throughout Canada and the United States. Via stage, film and television, Karina has worked with Michelle Freiburger, Paula Skimin, Tamina Pollact-Paris, Cora Kozaris, Linda Garneau, Tatiana Parker, Jeff Dimitriou ,Christopher Scott and Paul Becker.  Beyond studio training Karina has chosen to expand her dance education via travel to various dance workshops throughout North America. Through invitation only intensives and as a Pulse On Tour Pro Elite Protege 2016/2017, Karina has been fortunate to work more intimately with, Desmond Richardson, Cris Judd,Dave Scott, Gil Duldulao, Dana Foglia and Brian Friedman.  Stage credits include Ballet Jorgen Nutcracker at the Center in the Square, Monster Hip Hop  (New Jersey), Hairspray KWMP and  Janet Jackson as a guest performer in her Unbreakable Tour Air Canada Centre Toronto - Gil Duldulau choreographer &amp; creative director. Television credits include Get Up and Move (Lead (Actor/Dancer – Bella Productions). The Bomb Girls (dancer Muse Ent/Adrienne Mitchell – Global TV).  2015 PanAm Games closing ceremony and ParapanAm Games opening ceremony B5C company ( Paul Becker and Jeff Dimitriou) and The Next Step (Family Channels dance reality show season 4), Backstage season 1 and 2017 McDonald's National All Day Breakfast campaign " Chaos". Most recently, Karina had the good fortune to work with Christopher Scott as part of a skeleton crew used to set choreography and was also chosen as a cast member for the up coming Disney Movie entitled "Zombies". Karina can  be seen dancing in Massari's newest music video entitled Done Da Da having over 20.5 million views and growing. Karina has also just returned from Vancouver where she completed filming an episode for season 5 of the acclaimed TV series Once Upon A Time. Karina is an artist at heart who's love for performance is not outshined by her passion for constant growth in dance education.  Karina’s inate ability to interpret music has guided her towards choreography and teaching which fulfils her artistic nature.  Karina is a Fresh Dance Intensive staff member which promotes emerging choreographers/teaching artists. ( David Norsworthy, Juilliard Alumni).  Karina is constantly evolving and  looks forward to opportunities which challenge and expand the person that she is.   Karina is in her fourth year at Wilfred Laurier University studying Psychology.       <image:caption>Amanda is a passionate actor/dancer/singer rooted in Kitchener Waterloo. As a resident, she was actively involved in community theatre by sharing her expertise and energy with young people in schools and non-profit organizations. Amanda Damaren is a graduate of the Eastwood Collegiate Integrated Arts Program under the direction of Janis Price. She graduated with an Arts diploma majoring in Dance as well as an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Eastwood Collegiate provided Amanda with a foundation for dance, theatre and vocal training as well as opportunities to perform lead roles such as Jan in the musical Grease, as well as dance along side professional modern companies including Ballet Jorgen, Toronto Dance Theatre and David Earl. As a resident of Kitchener-Waterloo Amanda trained with Confidance Studio, Kitchener, Quinte Ballet School, Belleville, O.I.P, Toronto and Metro Movement, Toronto. As a competitive dancer, Amanda achieved several awards including Top Soloist, Overall Highest Score and Dance Odyssey’s Favourite Dancer. Furthermore, Amanda has received recognition for her choreography and creativity from several dance competitions. Amanda recently lived in Vancouver BC where she graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at Simon Fraser University. Amanda is highly trained and has worked with numerous choreographers such as: Rob Kitsos, Judith Garay, Chengxin Wei, Megan Walker-Straight and Leslie Telford. Amanda also spent time training under TwoFourSeven hip-hop company where she worked under Carlo Atienza, Roberta Bierman and Jerome Esplana. She has competed at various hip-hop competitions around the world such as: World of Dance, Vegas, Body Rock, San diego and Artists Emerge, Seattle. Amanda has an extraordinary vision for improvisation, collaboration and creation in dance and is excited to continue and share her work outside of University.    Amanda’s credits include Suicide Squad, Mr. Young, Canada’s Got Talent, The LA Complex, Hellcats, Baxter, Being Erica, Camp Rock 2, High School Musical, Canadian Idol and The Stratford Festival. She is proud to have worked with Romina D’Ugo and and David Ayer in Suicide Squad, Luther Brown in his stage production On My Way Home, Leon Rubin in the Stratford Shakespeare Festival production of Measure for Measure and Amy Wright on the set of Being Erica and Get Up ‘N Move.       <image:caption>Nadiene Gibney – Licentiate CC-CICB, MBATD, RSOBHD Adjudicator World Wide Judges Panel, ACTRA  Nadiene Gibney received her early ballet training in Toronto, Ontario under the tutelage of Gladys Forrester.  She then began her professional training at Canada’s National Ballet School in their Junior Associate Program, and was accepted to the School as a full-time student.  Nadiene continued her training at Canada’s National Ballet School in the Teacher Training Program, where she graduated with Honours, receiving Distinction on her Cecchetti Associate exam, under the direction of Carole Chadwick, Mary Goodhew and Anuschka Roes. During her many years at the school, she was fortunate to work with many renowned teachers including Glenn Gilmour, Laurel Toto, Shirley Tetreau, Deborah Hess, Carina Bomers, Rosalie Brake, and Deborah Bowes.  Nadiene has trained extensively in ballet and modern dance, receiving several awards for Excellence in Dance, as a dance major at Etobicoke School of the Arts.  She has been teaching ballet for 25 years and has achieved her Licentiate designation from Cecchetti Canada. She also holds her ISTD Associate, National Dance Branch, and her Members BATD.  Miss Gibney has taught at several prestigious studios in Ontario, and has been the Director  of several excellent ballet programs in the province as well, including the Sean Boutilier Academy of Dance, where she taught for 12 years, directing the Special Ballet Training Program. Nadiene’s teaching has taken her across Canada and the United States, as well as to the United Kingdom and South Africa.   Nadiene has trained numerous dancers who went on to attend The Juilliard School and The Joffrey School of Ballet in New York City, Canada’s National Ballet School, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and Boston Contemporary.  Many of her students now perform in major dance companies around the world.    Some highlights of Miss Gibney’s teaching career include several summers on the Faculty of the American Academy of Ballet in New York City, held at SUNY Purchase, for Mignon Furman, guest teaching and lecturing in Los Angeles, South Africa, and the U.K., and being on the Academic Faculty at Canada’s National Ballet School, teaching History of Art and Ballet.</image:caption>

She continues to train and compete in ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, acro, contemporary, lyrical and hip hop. Her ballet training includes both Cecchetti and Royal Academy of Dance syllabi. Most recently she received Distinction on her Intermediate RAD exam.   She has been a teaching assistant at In Motion for the past 5 years and she has assisted at the studios summer dance camps. She has been a Junior Staff member at In Motion over the past 2 years, working with students to help them prepare for competition. Mackenzie enjoys working with dancers of all ages.   Mackenzie has attended many dance competitions across Ontario and has been awarded with various special awards, overall awards and scholarships. Recent awards include first overall Intermediate soloist and second overall duet 2019 (Breakthru Dance Challenge), first overall Teen duet 2019 (Terpsichore), second overall top soloist and third overall top duet 2019 (Bedazzled), first place overall soloist 2018 (Bedazzled), first place overall Intermediate acro duet 2018 (Bedazzled), first place overall Intermediate duet 2018 (The View),Ballet powerhouse award 2017(Fever).  She has supplemented her training by attending the Northern Movement Acro Convention over the past 5 years. In the summer of 2019 she was chosen as the winner of the Cambridge Convention and was awarded A list acrobat. In the summer of 2020 she was chosen to be a demonstrator at the Cambridge Convention.  She has worked with choreographers including Blake McGrath, Erin Waltman, Brodie Masse, Josh Assor,Stephanie Rutherford and Linda Garneau.       <image:caption>Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Victoria began dancing at the young age of 4, and is a graduate from the Ontario School of Ballet and Related Arts. Victoria has extensive training in all dance genres with advanced training in Jazz, Lyrical and Acro. Victoria has also been trained in classical ballet under RAD achieving distinction on her advanced 1 examination, as well as having training under the ADAPT syllabus in jazz and tap. At the age of 9, Victoria began competing all over North America being recognized for winning numerous overalls and special awards and continued to do so until her graduating years. She has also been all throughout Canada and the United States with the nationally renowned dance competition, Candance. Victoria has been a loyal Candance employee, working multiple jobs from merchandise, backstage and tabulation. Victoria has successfully completed her Acrobatic Arts Module 1. She has completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Therapeutic Recreation degree, as well as her Master of Arts in Recreation and Leisure Studies at the University of Waterloo. Victoria is a recent graduate of the Masters of Teaching program at the University of Toronto, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. Victoria continues to grow as a professional dancer and teacher, by advancing her dance skills through taking classes and workshops whenever she can. Victoria spent a contract with Kalos Collectives, a contemporary training program based out of Toronto, under the direction of Jessica Ford. Through this company, she was given the opportunity to train with upcoming artists and choreographers such as; Sebastian Mersch, Alysa Pires, Kylie Thompson, and Alvin Collantes. Apart from studying under her studio teachers growing up, Victoria also trained with some outstanding professionals such as; Leon Blackwood, Amanda Cleghorn, Caroline Torti, Ryan Foley, David Cox, and Evelyn Hart.       <image:caption>Emily started her dance training at age four has continued to grow her love for dance, as both a qualified dancer and instructor. Emily’s past training experience has brought her success in her RAD exams and the competitive field of dance. She has received numerous overall awards, special awards, and scholarships from Bedazzled, Move, Fever, and many more well-known Ontario Dance competitions. Emily’s past 17 years of dance accomplishments does not stop with her own development. She extends her training to include professional development as a qualified instructor.   Emily proudly graduated IN.MOTION School of the Performing Arts in 2017 and continued her passion for dance at Brock University with the Badger Dance Pak. Emily has completed her Bachelor of Arts undergraduate degree at Brock University, and currently is working towards her full Ontario Teacher Education certificate. As Emily explores the professional education world, she remains rooted in her passion for dance and continues to be driven to share her dance training, experience, and professional development in her ongoing dance instructor practice.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Abby Pecora is an accomplished dancer and long time member of IMD. Abby began dancing at the age of 6 at In Motion, training in jazz, ballet, tap, contemporary, lyrical, acro, and hip hop. Abby graduated as an IMD dancer in 2022, where she continued her dance journey as a competitive choreographer and teacher. Abby is now working towards a Bachelor of Science with a major in Health Sciences and Kinesiology at Wilfrid Laurier University. She has continued dancing competitively on the Laurier Competitive Dance Team and is now starting the position of assistant captain for the team starting in September. Abby has won various choreography awards both with In Motion and Laurier Competitive Dance at several competitions over the last few years. Other accomplishments of hers have included many Highest Scoring Solo Awards, Highest Scoring Ballet, Lyrical, and Acro/Open Routines, Top 5 in the Young Creators Choreography Competition in 2021, 1st Place Dance Off Soloist 2022, along with various special awards and scholarships. She was also recently recognized as a bright, young artist by Linda Garneau at BeU University Varsity Dance Challenge. Abby has completed several Ceccetti and RAD ballet exams with distinction under the training of Caralee Buchwald and Nadiene Gibney. Abby also had the honour of representing Canada in the 2019 Dance World Cup in Braga, Portugal where she had brought home a silver medal. Abby has worked with many award winning choreographers such as Brodie Masse, Eryn Waltman, Linda Garneau, Stephanie Rutherford, Josh Assor, Blake McGrath, Jade Whitney, Caroline Torti, and Julia Cratchley. Abby loves dancing, choreographing and sharing her passion with her students. She looks forward to continuing to grow her artistry through teaching and training dancers as well as helping these young dancers become artists. She is looking forward to another year of dance as a part of the IMD team!</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Sofia started her dance training at the age of 5 with IN.MOTION and worked all the way up to graduation in 2021. She has trained in ballet, jazz, acro, contemporary, lyrical, hip-hop, tap, and pointe. With this training she completed and passed multiple RAD ballet exams and competed in numerous competitions over the years. She has participated in many shows and events as well.  Sofia started her teaching journey as an assistant at IN.MOTION and became a Junior Teacher when she was 15. Sofia has also worked as a summer camp dance teacher at IN.MOTION and science teacher at Little Medical School.  She currently works at IN.MOTION as a dance teacher and business administrator.  Sofia is currently a student at the University of Waterloo working towards a Bachelor’s of Science degree in the Honours Science program.  Sofia has made incredible memories as a dancer and member of IN.MOTION and hopes to bring that joy and the knowledge she gained to future dancers!</image:caption>

Students will learn a variety of techniques that will focus on using their opponent’s momentum as well as finding good angles for leverage to subdue opponents as opposed to focusing on striking an opponent head on. At Mugen Martial Arts we teach Hoku Shin Ha Shin Ki Ryu Jujitsu. Sensei Nick Lee has been practicing  for over 15 years and is a certified instructor. We are currently located at 637 Victoria Street N, Kitchener. We offer classes for anyone over the age of 10 and are suitable for any skill level or fitness ability.
